This is a work sample from a student who had created a recycled fashion design for the fashion show.
This student achieved a B grade due to providing quality responses that:
- Investigate characteristics and properties of a range of materials, systems, components, tools and equipment and evaluate the impact of their use (ACTDEK023)
Throughout this assessment I observed them:
- Evaluate the sustainability of materials and equipment used in designing outfits, and the role of the fashion industry in impacting the sustainability of society and the environment (ACTDEK019).
- Investigate and research solutions to the design project, by engaging with recycled materials and equipment to provide appropriate tools needed in designing the process. (ACTDEP024).
- Provided creative design ideas with clear understandings and knowledge of importance in recycling and repurposing, by presenting clear communication in fashion design through experimenting and revising design ideas and models (ACTDEP025).
- Selected materials, equipment, processes and techniques appropriate to design purpose of designing a sustainable and environmentally-conscious solution of recycled fashion (ACTDEP026).
- Independent student management of reflection, evaluation, and planning of resources and production steps required during the design process (ACTDEP028).
- Evaluate and critically reflect upon the appropriateness of design, materials and equipment used regarding the fashion design’s purpose and intentions of presenting sustainable solutions in society and the environment (ACTDEP027).
If I was to mark this sample higher, it would have to include planning and evaluations with clearer knowledge of unstainable harvesting and producing processes of common materials used in fast fashion, and more detailed connections to the damaging impact on humanity, environment and societies of overseas Asian countries which generate and produce fast fashion designs.
